Colorado's best Snowcat Skiing + Boarding |
The Boulder Outdoor Center is proud to bring you the best Snow Cat Skiing in Colorado! We have four great Snowcat Tours for you to choose from.
How does Snowcat Skiing and Boarding work?
Skiers and riders are transported by a powerful snowcat with custom designed, totally enclosed and heated coaches. The snowcat rides of 15-30 minutes between runs gives you time to relax, clean off your goggles, watch the beautiful powder that you will be skiing on your next run and keep warm. Unlike heli-skiing the snowcat always goes regardless of the weather. Even on the stormiest of days you'll be out enjoying the fresh powder. The Snowcat will drop you off at the top of your run. You will then don your skis or board and following your guide, cut fresh powder. Sometimes you might have a short climb or traverse to catch the best back country line. While you are skiing, the Cat will drive down to the pickup spot. You will meet the cat, drop your skis/board into the back rack, climb back into your comfortable seat for your ride back up the mountain.
What Skill Level should a Skier/Boarder be?
All skiers/boarders should be strong intermediate to expert skiers/boarders. You should have fat skis of 90mm or more under foot depending on your weight to give you the float in the powder. If you do not have fat skis, some of these tours can rent or provide fat skis. If you are snowboarding, we recommend a large board for your weight. In powder, these larger skis or boards will make skiing the powder much easier.
