Kayak Instruction

ACA Instructor Update Clinics, Workshops and 2 day Instructor Courses

How we run our American Canoe Association Instructor Classes
We teach the ACA Level 1 and Level II classes on a lake with an inlet for the moving water portion of the class. This is a hands on learning and teaching class. Certified ACA instructors of Level 1 or 2 can use this class to meet their continuing education requirements. New instructors can use this class as a workshop to learn the skills for teaching kayaking on flat/moving water, Instructor Development Workshop, (IDW). Those of you that wish to become ACA Certified Instructors, taking this class may also work as your Instructor Certification Exam, (ICE). Each person who takes this class will be helping with the teaching based on their knowledge and skill.

If you would like to see the ACA outline of each of these courses, please click here: ACA River Kayaking Course Outlines.

These are 2-3 day classes to make better instructors or refresh existing instructors.
If you want the benefit of the ACA certification for this class, you must be a current ACA Member and have paid your SEIC dues, (instructor dues for the Safety Education & Instruction Council) and provide us with your ACA number during the class. You are welcome to take this class without being an ACA member but then you will not be certified through the ACA.
You can join the ACA through this link: Join the ACA. Please choose the instructor level of membership on the ACA page.
