Become a kayak instructor!
As the recognized governing body for canoe sport in
the United States, the American Canoe Association brings people together
to continue to improve skills in paddling and teaching through carefully
assembled training programs. Certification through our ACA Clinics provides
a forum for developing skilled instructors committed to modern instruction.
Certification also helps to acquaint paddlers with generally accepted
guidelines for paddling instruction. We are proud to offer lots of ACA courses
for you to attend. All clinics run from 9am to 5pm
on the water with evening class room instruction. After this course, all of the necessary paperwork will be sent to the ACA. It is important for you to become an active member of the ACA before your clinic begins. We would be happy to furnish you with the appropriate information.
We offer a four day American Canoe Association Flat Water, Moving Water, and Whitewater-Certification. You may choose to certify in flatwater, moving water, or whitewater. Your knowledge and skill will determine whether you become certified in any or all levels as an ACA kayak instructor. The learning process, effective teaching techniques, demonstration, methods, equipment, clothing, and safety will be covered. Students will learn modern paddling theory including recreational and competitive techniques, strokes, maneuvers, rescue, route finding, group organization, and legal issues.
This clinic will take place on the front range of Colorado on a local Reservoir and
the Colorado River. Lodging is not included. Please call us if you need
help with lodging arrangements.
Each day consists of instruction on the water from 9:00am to 5:00pm and
classroom/videos in the evenings. The course will follow the ACA outline.
Kayakers should have 2-3 years of experience and have solid class III
to IV boating skills.
